How to Make Bill of Rights Placards

When celebrating Independence Day it is important to remember the principles on which our country was founded. During your celebration this year take advantage of the spirit and the events of this day to remind everyone of our guaranteed liberties by letting your message be
seen. A parade can be a highly visible venue for such a display so we have laid out easy steps for a placard that will catch the attention of Americans on our day of commemoration.

What you will need:

2 sheets of large poster board Markers
1 flat stick Stapler

  • Begin with a large poster board
  • On one side print the phrase you wish to use from the Bill of Rights
  • Leave the reverse side blank
  • On the second poster board print a different phrase of your choice
  • Leave the reverse side blank
  • Place the pair back to back with the wording facing out
  • Insert the flat stick between the two
  • Staple together

Feel free to personalize your signs with streamers, American flags or any
other decoration!

It may be a good idea to have your poster boards laminated in case of rain
and remember these messages will never go out of style so you can save
them for next year!

Some suggestions for phrases taken from applicable Amendments found in the
Bill of Rights:

First Amendment:
"NO LAW ABRIDGING THE FREEDOM OF SPEECH"

Fourth Amendment:
"NO WARRANTS WITHOUT PROBABLE CAUSE

Fifth Amendment:
"NO ONE DEPRIVED OF LIFE OR LIBERTY WITHOUT DUE PROCESS"

Sixth Amendment:
"RIGHT OF ACCUSED TO KNOW NATURE OF CHARGES"

Eighth Amendment:
"NO CRUEL AND UNUSUAL PUNISHMENTS"
